SAIL Amsterdam is the largest maritime event in the Netherlands and returns to the IJ once every five years. For five days, Tall Ships, classic sailing vessels, maritime heritage, and naval vessels from all over the world are moored in the capital. From the water, you sail right into the middle of it all: past the masts, between the ships, and with a view that no spot on shore can match.

Sail-In and Sail-Out: the most spectacular moments

The Wednesday of SAIL is the Sail-In: all Tall Ships and classics sail from IJmuiden in a long parade to Amsterdam, surrounded by thousands of boats on the IJ. On Sunday, the opposite happens during the Sail-Out, when the fleet leaves Amsterdam again. Both days are the most spectacular moment of the entire event — sailing right in the middle of the procession, navigating between those enormous ships, is an experience unlike anything else.

Private reception location on shore

What sets our SAIL packages apart — in addition to the cruises at the quality level you have come to expect from us — is what happens before and after the trip. We set up a private reception location on shore: a stylish tent with its own bar, hostesses, music, atmospheric decorations, and a luxury toilet trailer. You and your guests are welcome there for a drink half an hour before your cruise and half an hour after it ends. No waiting on a jetty, no chaotic start-up moments — just a genuine welcome, in an environment befitting the occasion.

In 2025, we successfully ran this format for our guests. We are building on this for 2030.

Parking

For our SAIL guests, we offer indoor parking facilities near the boarding location for a fee. You will receive the details with your reservation. Additionally, parking in the vicinity is free until 19:00.

Availability and schedule

SAIL is a five-year event, and spots are scarce. We are accepting reservations for SAIL 2030 — definitive bookings will follow as soon as the municipal plans and rates for 2030 are known. The sooner you start exploring your options, the more possibilities will be available to you.

Which boats are available:

• Prince of New Amsterdam — for an intimate cruise between the ships, with a small group
• Vastberaden — for a pleasant sloop cruise past the Tall Ships
• Halve Maen — our saloon boat, suitable for larger groups wishing to experience SAIL in style
